Our particle-based multiphysics simulation framework TrixiParticles.jl has won the Newcomer Prize of the Helmholtz Software Award 2026, which puts a spotlight on the important role that research software plays in science today. The Newcomer Prize comes with €2,000 and goes to young software projects with great potential and a visibly growing user base.

TrixiParticles.jl is written in Julia and designed for solving multiphysics problems with particle-based methods, from free-surface flows to fluid-structure interaction, with GPU support across vendors. It is developed by our PhD student Niklas Neher (HLRS), Erik Faulhaber (University of Cologne), and Sven Berger (Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon).

Congratulations to the team for this awesome achievement! 🎉🙌
